Birchbox August 2014

Got my first Birchbox in the mail today. I don't know why I waited so long to sign up, I found out about the company years ago, but then forgot or got sidetracked. Lately they have been all over my new seed and Instagram, and I just could't avoid it any longer. 

A brief history/description

Birchbox is one of the original beauty sampling subscription boxes, and I think it will always be one of my favorites. Sometimes the samples are smaller than I would like, but I’ve discovered a ton of my favorite beauty brands thanks to Birchbox, and they have one of the best reward systems. (For every item in your box you review, you get 10 points ($1) to spend in the Birchbox shop). 

So, I received 5 items, 2 of which are full sized! I will be doing more detailed reviews of each product over the next week or two, so for now I will just give a quick first impression. The fragrance smells nice, but I am a little annoyed that Birchbox sent a fragrance in my first box when I indicated that I do not like them in my profile--I am only supposed to receive 6 or less for the whole year, so we will see.

Next is the Cleanser. It smells clean, which is nice. I also like that it is vegan and paraben free, but, the sample is a little small. I will only get a few uses out of it, and I like to be able to get at least 5.

The Lip Pencil is again a nice color. It is peach, and with my pale, pale skin, I worry that I will look wasted out, but I will definitely give it a try, maybe tomorrow? It is the first of the full size products.

The eyeliner is the second full-sized product. I love me some eyeliner and am super excited! I put a little on the back of my hand just now and it went on nice and smooth, so that will be fun for tomorrow also!

Last is the shaving cream. The packaging makes it seem like it is going to be life changing or something, but it is also just shaving cream, so I am not at all sure how excited I should be to try this. I am a shower at night kind of girl, so maybe I will try it out tonight???
